Davidson Heating and Construction was the company’s original name when it started at the turn of the
century in 1900. When the Bechtel family took over, the company became incorporated in 1952 as
Davidson H&C Co., Inc. and are currently operating under management by the 4 th generation with even
the 5 th generation working summers now too.

We are well known for The Leg Lamp in our window which was first described in 1966 in
Shepherd's novel “In God We Trust: All Other Pay Cash!” It is also well known from the movie
The Christmas Story where Ralphie’s Dad receives the lamp as a gift. All the employees at DHC
went together one year and got the lamp for the owner as a Christmas gift.
